The City & Guilds 8269 level 3 MSO Course has been developed to meet the requirements of the Maritime Security Standard ISO28007; and currently is the only qualification that has been directly mapped against this standard.
This course is designed to prepare the student for work in the maritime security industry and has been developed to provide an industry standard for field operatives in maritime security awareness and emergency response training. It will become the maritime industry standard entry level qualification and will replace the necessity to acquire an SSO certificate; although STCW95 certificates will still be required for those wishing to work in this field.
What the course covers
Unit 1- Understand the Maritime Security Industry
Unit 2- Understand Maritime Pre-Deployment Planning & Procedures
Unit 3- Understand Maritime Security Operating Procedures
Unit 4- Understand Maritime Incident management & Post Operational Procedures Assessment: Candidates will be assessed for practical and theoretical understanding of the key learning outcomes. This will culminate in the City & Guilds examination and a practical assessment.
Who should attend
The MSO course is specifically designed to meet the needs of ex-service personnel considering a career in the Maritime Security Industry. This course will also include an introduction to Ambrey Risk along with specific training including weapons training and an extensive grounding in Ambrey’s Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs). The course will conclude with an interview with one of our experienced recruitment and training team, resulting in possible deployment opportunities with Ambrey Risk.
5 days and is run at our training centre in Herefordshire.
The course designed to comply with new training standards and compliance for those entering the Maritime Security Industry. It was delivered in a pragmatic, relaxed but authoritative manner by an experienced and knowledgeable instructor who went out of his way to connect with all experiences and backgrounds from those attending the course.
Ian, ex WO1 Royal Marines
I now know what is expected of me from an industry compliance perspective, but more importantly what is expected of me from Ambrey Risk when I deploy as part of a Maritime Security Team. The additional support provided to the course from the recruitment and training department has been spot on turning around administrative issues swiftly and providing guidance to queries as they arose.
James, ex Corporal Parachute Regiment
The course consisted of class room work, discussion periods and weapon handling drills conducted by Ambrey instructors who are Senior Team Leaders with recent operational experience in high risk areas. Lessons are well paced while the training staff inject their experiences and anecdotes into the theory periods which made for a very enjoyable learning experience.
Paul, ex Staff Sergeant RAF
I would strongly recommend this course and the Ambrey Risk ethos of training and development to anyone thinking of getting into the industry or if you’re in the industry it’s an excellent course for personal development which will benefit all.
Steve, ex WO1 Parachute Regiment
